Magdalene ‘Maggie’ Herrera
I was lucky enough to be raised in a home where creative expression was seen as nothing short of beautiful. Well into adulthood--through encouragement for scientific, political, or mathematic career choices--I decided to pursue a creative career, achieving a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).
I graduated in November 2023 summa cum laude with a 3.91 GPA, having gained experience in non-fiction, journalism, copywriting and editing for fashion, pop culture, human rights issues. and arts & entertainment. In my spare time, I enjoy absurdist and horror fiction styles associated with Junji Ito, Stephen King and David Sodergren. Though fiction may be my Achilles (for now...), I still enjoy a good story!

My time at SCAD has prepared me for my years as Copywriter Intern, Marketing Intern and Editorial Intern for start-up United by Zero, Mind4Youth, Graphis Inc., Our National Conversation and JustNLife respectively. I learned how to best manage time, deadlines, all while both offering and recieving meaningful critique and feedback, and attention to detail through proofreads and editing.
